Recently “Namadhu Kiramam” youngsters team restored a main canal and sub canals which feed water to 21 ponds in five villages and all the 21 ponds are now full of Cauvery water after almost 15 years !!!
On the success of this water bodies restoration, our trust “Path” partnered with “Namadhu Kiramam” youngsters team and celebrated this Deepavali as Green Deepavali by planting thousands of trees on the banks of these water bodies and kick started the green revolution on October 28. Around 500 children, youngsters, volunteers and villagers from nine villages enthusiastically participated in the trees plantation event and planted the trees.
It’s easy to plant the saplings but the real challenge is to water, maintain and grow the trees hence a well thought plan is in place.
It’s a Five lakhs rupees project and each village was given Rs 50,000 and Rs. 25,000 is used for buying Saplings, Plant Protectors and for plantation expenses. The remaining Rs 25,000 will be used for watering and maintenance of the trees for one year.
